I am originally from Germany but have been based in Amsterdam, Netherlands since 2010.
After almost two decades of working as a conference interpreter* – spending a lot of time expressing other people’s worldviews and being very head-centered – I craved a change. I felt the time had come to go down a different path. A path that allows me to use my hands as well as my brain and combine my wide-ranging interests and curiosity with my love for drawing. Getting absorbed by a drawing I am making is the quickest path to flow state for me – I know I have reached it when I suddenly catch myself humming a song. My drawing subjects range from the minuscule (think insects observed through a magnifying glass) to the gigantic (think old industrial installations). What I love most is to capture fleeting activities of humans or animals live and on the spot, without the help of photographs. Drawn snapshots, as it were. Inspired by my daughter and her future, my main focus is on sustainability – how can we turn the tide and preserve our unique planet? I believe we need to tell stories that carry a message of hope, inspiring people to contribute to positive change.
I am excited to hear about your green story and illustrate it for you. |
